Hot and Fresh Gist about Kwara State

Friday 29 November 2013

Ilorin, the Kwara state capital is presently witnessing an unusual presence of men and officers of the Armed forces, Police and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC). The massive detachments, Kwaraleaks learnt minutes ago, might not be unconnected with the marriage ceremony of the ward of the Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad, who is an indigene of Ilorin.

Kwaraleaks could not as at press time gets hold on the details of the wedding, but sources disclosed that in preparation for the wedding, the CoS has had to hurriedly put up a massive private residence in GRA, on Abdulrasaq street, which was hitherto under construction. Our correspondent, who moved round the metropolis, observed several detachments of officers and men of the Nigerian Police, Army, Civil Defence and officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at major junctions in Ilorin metropolis. An attempt by our correspondent to gain entry to Abdulrasak Road in GRA was sternly rebuffed by the combined team of the Police and FRSC officer positioned at both ends of the street. It was also the case at the popular Flowers area of the GRA.

It will be recalled that Kwaraleaks had late yesterday exclusively reported an unusual movement of Armed forced vehicles in the Ilorin metropolis, especially in the night. Vehicles bearing ‘Defense Headquarters’ (DHS) dotted the Ilorin streets yesterday, with several other, belonging to the associations of wives of the service chiefs also not left out.
At the Kwara Hotels, Kwaraleaks observed that the premises was sprawling with stern-looking soldiers. On further probe, a source in the hotel hinted this paper that virtually all the rooms are booked.
